Converting on a phone is easier than you think
You don’t need a computer, an APK or a paid app. Your phone’s browser can do the whole job: copy the link in the YouTube app, paste it here, and the MP3 downloads like any other file. Follow the steps for your phone below.
iPhone and iPad (Safari)
- Copy the link. In the YouTube app, tap Share → Copy link.
- Open Safari and go to youtubetomp3.cfd. Tip: add it to your Home Screen via Share → Add to Home Screen for one-tap access.
- Tap Paste. iOS may ask “Allow Paste?”; tap Allow. The conversion starts automatically.
- Choose the quality (192 kbps is great for AirPods) and tap Download MP3.
- Confirm the download. Safari asks “Do you want to download…?”; tap Download.
- Find the file. Tap the blue arrow next to the address bar, or open the Files app → Downloads.
Playing it: tap the file in Files to play it, or open it with VLC or Documents for a full player with playlists. To put it in Apple Music, sync it from a Mac or PC.
Make it a ringtone: save as M4A, open it in GarageBand, trim to 30 seconds and use Share → Ringtone.
Android (Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox)
- Copy the link. In the YouTube app tap Share → Copy link.
- Open your browser and go to youtubetomp3.cfd.
- Tap Paste, or long-press the box and choose Paste. The conversion begins.
- Pick a bitrate and tap Download MP3.
- Open the file from the download notification, or go to Files / My Files → Downloads.
Playing it: Google’s Files app, Samsung Music, VLC and most music players pick up new MP3s in Downloads automatically. If yours doesn’t, use “rescan” in the player’s settings.
Set it as a ringtone: Settings → Sound → Ringtone → “+” or “From files”, then choose the MP3.
Phone settings that help
| Problem | iPhone fix | Android fix |
|---|---|---|
| Paste does nothing | Allow Paste when asked, or long-press → Paste | Long-press the box → Paste |
| Download doesn’t start | Settings → Safari → Downloads, check location | Allow downloads for this site in Chrome |
| Can’t find the file | Files → Recents | Files → Downloads |
| Running out of space | Choose 128 kbps | Choose 128 kbps or OPUS |
| Downloads stall on mobile data | Switch to Wi-Fi | Switch to Wi-Fi |
Why not use a “YouTube to MP3” app?
Neither the App Store nor Google Play allows apps that download from YouTube, so the “apps” you find are usually APK files from unknown sites. They can request access to contacts, SMS or storage, show aggressive ads, or carry malware. A web converter needs no permissions, no updates and nothing to uninstall, and it works the same on every phone.
Data and battery tips
- Use Wi-Fi for long mixes and lectures.
- Choose 128 kbps for podcasts and speech: a one-hour talk is about 58 MB instead of 144 MB at 320 kbps.
- Close the tab after downloading; nothing keeps running in the background.
Keep it fair
Save your own uploads, lectures, podcasts and free-to-use music. For chart songs, a streaming app with offline mode supports the artists. Want to know which quality to choose? Read the 320 kbps guide. Saving a clip? See Shorts to MP3.
